Question: When Should a Woman Start Having Pap Smears?

I am 19 and have never had a Pap smear. Should I have a pap smear done?

Answer: New guidelines suggest that women should have their first Pap smear by the age of 21 or within 3 years of first sexual intercourse. Women need to continue to have yearly gyn exams to look for any abnormalities or STDs, as well.
